Abu Sennan Production Reaches 12,347 bbloe/d during H1 - EGYPT OIL & GAS

United Oil and Gas (UOG) Company announced that Abu Sennan Concession gross production increased to 12,347 barrels of equivalents per day (bbloe/d) representing net production of 2,716 bbloe/d during H1 2020, according to a statement by the company.

The company added that net the production has reached to 1,709 bbloe/d in the first of March and jumped to a high of 3,142 bbloe/d in early June during the testing of El Salmiyah-5 (ES-5 ) well. Liekwise, the performance of Abu Sennan Concession have achieved exceptional results since the beginning of 2020.

UOG noted that after completion of ES-5 well’s testing program, the well was producing 2,900 barrels of oil per day (bbl/d) and 9 million standard cubic feet (mmscf/d) on a controlled rate at the end of June. Regarding ASH 2 well, its net production reached 660 bbl/d.

WEPCO’s Production Reaches 3,500 bbl/d - EGYPT OIL & GAS

Western Desert Operating Petroleum Company’s (WEPCO) production has reached 3,500 barrels per day (bbl/d) after streamlining well Badr 4-6, according to a statement.

The new development well (Badr 4-6) has added about 500 bbl/d to the state-owned company’s production. Production has increased in the past five months by 1,500 bbl/d, bringing the total production from 2,000 bbl/d to 3,500 bbl/d.

It should be noted that WEPCO is fully operational with 100% of Egyptian youth cadres without foreign partners.

WEPCO adheres to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla’s strategy to increase crude oil production by developing a rapid development plan for new discoveries and benefiting from the well’s existing infrastructure.

Egypt, ExxonMobil Ink Two Agreements Worth $332 MM - EGYPT OIL & GAS

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, signed two new exploration and production (E&P) agreements with ExxonMobil and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), according to a press release.

The two agreements are worth $332 million, with a signature bonus of around $17 million to drill seven wells.

The signature was conducted between El Molla; EGAS Chairman, Osama El Bakly; and the East Mediterranean Exploration Manager at ExxonMobile, Don Bagley, in the presence of other petroleum leaders.

Baltim’s Third Well to Be Linked to Year-End Production - EGYPT OIL & GAS

Italian giant, Eni, is working on linking the third well of Baltim field to production by the end of 2019, an official source told Alborsa news.

The third well is expected to add around 100 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d) of natural gas and 650 barrels of condensates.

After linking the third well to production, the field’s production is anticipated to reach 290 mmcf/d of natural gas and 1,950 barrels per day (b/d) of condensates, according to the sources.

The source noted that Baltim field includes six well of natural gas with an average production rate of around 75-100 mmcf/d of natural gas, making the total production of natural gas reach 500 mmcf/d.

Ganope Discovers Three Oil Wells in FY 2019/20 - EGYPT OIL & GAS

Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope) achieved three new oil discoveries at its oil fields, two of which were brought online at the oil fields of Eish AL Mallaha and Petro Mallaha during Fiscal Year (FY) 2019/20, a press release by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources pointed out.

The three wells are being evaluated with investments reaching $20 million. The PGC had completed drilling the first well at the end of August. Still under evaluation, the third one, located at the Suez Gulf area and operated by Petrogulf Corporation (PGC) is the biggest of all.

Such statements came during a meeting between the Ganope Head Mohamed Abdel Azzim and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, in the attendance of Aswan governor, Ahmad Ibrahim.

El Molla confirmed during the meeting that the coming period will witness an intensive activity in the research, Exploration and Production (E&P) in the Red Sea after International Oil Companies (IOCs) offers had been submitted and evaluated. This will be the first global bid for research and exploration for oil and gas in this region, which opens new horizons to attract more investments and achieve new discoveries.

El Sisi Approves Egypt-Cyprus Gas Pipeline - EGYPT OIL & GAS

Presidential decree number 537 for the year 2019 was issued on July 4, approving the governmental agreement between Egypt and Cyprus to establish a direct natural gas subsea pipeline, according to State Information Service.

The pipeline willl transport natural gas from the Aphrodite gas field to Egypt’s liquefaction facilities at Idku and Damietta, and re-export it as liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The agreement between the two countries was signed on September 19, 2018 in Nicosia and the Parliament approved it on March 11, 2019.

Under the agreement, the two parties do not have the right to impose in the conditions related to natural gas obtaining, usage, destination, transport, or supply.

The agreement states that the health, safety and environment (HSE) standards applied in the project should not be less than the European Union (EU)’s HSE standards.

Oil, Gas Production Reaches 6.8 MM Tons - EGYPT OIL & GAS

The total production of oil and natural gas reached 6.8 million tons in 2019, compared to 6.1 million tons during the same month in 2018, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

Data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed that the total consumption of petroleum and natural gas reached 6.1 million tons during April 2019, up from 6 million tons for the same month a year earlier.

Moreover, the consumption of petroleum products and natural gas reached 79.1 million tons in fiscal year (FY) 2017/2018.

CAPMAS indicated that the quantity of emissions from the consumption of petroleum products and natural gas reached 206.8 million tons in FY 2017/2018, down from 210 million tons in FY 2016/2017, with a decrease of approximately 1.5%.

EGAS to Boost Natural Gas Production to 4.8 bcf/d by 2022 - EGYPT OIL & GAS

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) aims to increase gas production by 4.8 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) by June 2022, bringing the total gas production in Egypt to about 11.3 bcf/d, Amwal Al Ghad reports.

This comes as the oil and gas sector plans to develop gas fields through 19 projects with a production capacity between 4.5 and 4.8 bcf/d, a source from EGAS said.

The development work of gas fields in the past four years has contributed to unprecedented levels of increase in production, with the current total production of natural gas reaching 6.5 bcf/d, the source added, pointing out that the exploration work in the Red Sea will also bolster gas production.

Eni Completes Zohr Gas Processing Unit - EGYPT OIL & GAS

Italian Eni finished establishing all the gas processing units for Zohr natural gas field in May 2019, boosting its processing capacity to 3.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of gas, a source in the oil and gas sector told Al Borsa Newspaper.

The processing plants established for Zohr are combined into a 400 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) temporary processing unit, in addition to seven units with a capacity of 2.8 bcf/d, all of which had investments of $5 billion, the source noted.

Zohr gas field’s total output reached 2.3 bcf/d, compared to 2.1 bcf/d at the beginning of 2019, the source said, adding that each well in Zohr produces an average of 250 mmscf/d of natural gas.

BP to Invest $1.8B in Egypt - EGYPT OIL & GAS

BP will invest $1.8 billion in Egypt next year, according to BP’s chief executive Bob Dudley, The National reported.

“We’ve spent in the last two years $6.8bn in Egypt and it will be about $1.8bn dollars next year,” Dudley told The National in an interview in Abu Dhabi.

BP’s regional president of North Africa, Hesham Mekkawy, previously said that the company will invest $2 billion in Egypt during 2019.

BP’s latest spending plans are a substantial decrease from the $4 billion invested in Egypt in 2017.

Dudley also confirmed that the company will be investing significantly in Abu Dhabi, promising $1 billon each year. The company has already discussed investing in the Ruwais downstream facility with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The Emirate is planning to invest $45 billion in the facility over the next five years in collaboration with international partners.

“We’ve reviewed and we’re part of the process with Ruwais. That’s yet to be decided”, Dudley said.

EU Energy Commissioner Visits Zohr Gas Field - EGYPT OIL & GAS

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla and EU Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action Miguel Arias Cañete visited the onshore gas processing facilities at Zohr natural gas field, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

During the visit, the minister and the accompanying delegation reviewed the amount of work achieved since the discovery of the field, including the phase 2 work that is currently under development.

El Molla and Cañete listened to an explanation from Balaeim Petroleum Company (Petrobel)’s Head, Atef Hassan, on the development of the field, as well as the ongoing construction processes in the onshore station which receives and processes natural gas from Zohr field.

The tour is a part of the program for Cañete’s three-day visit, during which several meetings will be held to review ways to increase cooperation between Egypt and the EU, Egypt Oil & Gas reported.

Egyptian Gas Production Records 3,160 tons in April - EGYPT OIL & GAS / AMWAL AL GHAD

Egypt’s gas production recorded a remarkable increase in April 2017 as it reached 3,160 tons, compared to 2,420 tons in April 2016, due to adding new fields to production and local grid, reported Amwal Al Ghad.

Furthermore, reports of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed that natural gas consumption also largely increased from 2,820 tons in 2016 to 3,340 tons in 2017.

Meanwhile, crude oil and condensates production in the oil and gas sector decreased to 2,660 tons in April 2017, compared to 3,840 tons in the same period of 2016, while oil consumption increased to 3,305 tons in April 2017, compared to 3,200 tons in 2016.

Emirati Fleet Energy granted approval to import LNG from Egypt - ENERGY EGYPT / EGYPT OIL & GAS

UAE’s Fleet Energy Inc. has been granted approval to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Egypt. The Egyptian National Gas Holding Company (EGAS) has granted the Emirati company initial approval in response to a request submitted late April 2017, the company informed Egypt Oil & Gas.

The quantity to be imported and value of the deal are yet to be announced.
Fleet Energy has a strong history with the Egyptian government, starting from 2010, when the company was awarded the right to process 1.5 million barrels per month of crude oil at MIDOR refinery, the products of which were sold back to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).

El Molla: Five IOC’s are carrying out $750 million Seismic Survey of Red Sea - ENERGY EGYPT / EGYPT OIL & GAS / AL MAL

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, stated that Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (GANOPE) had agreed with five International Oil Companies (IOC’s) six months ago to conduct a $750m seismic survey in the Red Sea to prepare reports on the reserves of oil and gas in the territorial waters after the re-demarcation of the border With Saudi Arabia, according to Al Mal.

Moreover, El Molla highlighted, during the annual Iftar at the Ministry, that the IOC’s will submit the reports by the end of the year. Then, the surveyed areas will be offered through a general tender for exploration. He also pointed out that the re-demarcation process will be beneficial like the previous re-demarcation with Cyprus, which was followed by discovering Zohr field.

In related news, El Molla attended the 9th meeting of the Higher Committee for following up on the development of Zohr field project and reviewed the construction work in Zohr as 71% of the project was completed in May 2017.

PetroZenima Connects Drilled Wells to Production Platforms - EGYPT OIL & GAS

An official source at South Abu Zenima Petroleum Company (PetroZenima) stated exclusively to Egypt Oil&Gas that the company is currently implementing the plan of connecting drilled wells to production platforms.

The source added that the company has drilled eight wells in the 39km Mozhel field in the Gulf of Suez concession area.

The first and second wells were connected and began producing from 500b/d to 800b/d of oil. Additionally, the company is working on the reform of the fourth well.

Furthermore, PetroZenima is connecting the third and fifth wells to production platforms at a cost of $6m. The two wells are planned to be used to increase the field’s production. The rest of the wells will be connected soon to likely increase output and reserves of crude oil.

The source also mentioned that the company is currently conducting a seismic survey of a new exploratory well (SAZ Concession, owned by NPC Egypt) near Mozhel field with $17m of investments.
