bp has let a contract to drilling waste management specialist TWMA for large-scale oil and gas projects in Egypt.

TWMA will use its RotoMill drill cuttings processing technology to process all drilling waste generated from bp’s West Nile Delta (WND) and East Nile Delta (END) exploration and development projects in the Mediterranean Sea, the service provider said in a release Aug. 14.

WND is a multi-stage project which encompasses five fields in the North Alexandria and West Mediterranean Deepwater offshore concession blocks (OGJ Online, Feb. 11 2019). END is in the North Damietta Offshore concession. bp has an 82.75% operating stake in WND and 100% equity in END.

RotoMill uses thermal desorption to separate drill cuttings and associated materials into oil, water, and solids for recycling and reuse. The recovered base oil can be reused in the drilling mud system.

Through BP’s joint venture, Pharaonic Petroleum Company (PhPC), the Qattameya field has been developed ‎through a one-well subsea development and tie-back to existing infrastructure.‎

Announcing the production start-up, BP said on Monday that the field is ‎expected to produce up to 50 million cubic feet of gas per day.

The Qattameya discovery was announced in March 2017. It is located approximately 45 km west ‎of the Ha’py platform.

It is tied back to the Ha’py and Tuart field ‎development via a new 50km pipeline and is also connected to their existing subsea ‎utilities via a 50 kilometre umbilical.

BP is preparing to drill two new wells in the Atoll and Katameya natural gas fields in its North Damietta offshore concession in the Nile Delta, according to an Oil Ministry statement. 

The drilling work will cost USD 280 mn. 

The Atoll field is expected to produce 100 mcf/d of gas when it comes online in 4Q2020, while the Katameya field will produce 60 mcf/d of gas from 2Q2020.

The Oil Ministry expects natural gas production from North Damietta’s Atoll field (BP) to increase to 400 mcf/d by next October, once drilling on the fourth well is complete, Oil Minister Tarek El Molla said. 

The field currently produces 350 mcf/d of gas.

BP will begin producing 60 mcf/d of natural gas from its Katameya Shallow-1 exploration well in the North Damietta East Delta marine concession by 2020, a source from the industry told Youm7. 

Early works on the well are due to begin soon as BP had promised in April to begin production by no later than early 2020. 

The well has 90 bcf of reserves.

A string of news from the petroleum industry is worthy of your attention this morning, all stemming from the 9th Mediterranean Offshore Conference, which saw a number of IOCs on Tuesday — including Shell, Eni, and Edison — make commitments to expand and expedite their activities in Egypt:

EGAS and the Ganoub El Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (GANOPE) signed yesterday a USD 600 mn agreement to purchase an offshore drilling rig from Toyota Tsusho, according to an Oil Ministry statement. The rig will be used for oil and gas deepwater exploration in the Mediterranean, Gulf of Suez, and Red Sea.

Schlumberger announced it will invest USD 60 bn in a new data center in a bid to make industry information more accessible, according to Egypt GM Hussein El Ghazzawy. El Molla had signed two agreements with Schlumberger back in February, one each for the data center and a seismic survey of the Gulf of Suez.

BP begins production from Egypt’s Atoll gas field seven months ahead of schedule - BP

BP today announced the start of gas production from the Atoll Phase One project, offshore Egypt. The project, in the North Damietta concession in the East Nile Delta, was delivered seven months ahead of schedule and 33% below the initial cost estimate.

The project is now producing 350 million cubic feet of gas a day (mmscfd) and 10,000 barrels a day (bpd) of condensate. Gas production from the field is directed to Egypt’s national grid.

Atoll is the first new project to come into production for BP in 2018, adding to the series of higher-margin projects successfully brought online over the past few years. The 13 projects that started-up through 2016 and 2017 provided more than 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day (boed) of new net production capacity and total net production from BP’s new projects is now expected to be 900,000 boed by 2021.

BP will launch production at the USD 3.8 bilion Atoll field in the North Damietta concession ahead of schedule by the end of the year, said Hassan Abady, Chairman BP JV Pharaonic Oil Company, Al Ahram reports. Development of the field is 93% complete, including the drilling of three deepwater wells 950 meters below the water’s surface. The field is expected to produce 300 mcf/d and 8k bbl/d once online.

BP has completed 53% of the development work being carried out at the North Damietta offshore concession’s USD 3.8 bn Atoll field, including drilling three deepwater wells 950 meters below the water’s surface, the Oil Ministry said in a statement yesterday. 

The field, which holds about 1.5 tcf of gas reserves, is expected to begin producing 300 mcf/d and 8k bbl/d of condensates by December 2017.

BP (BP.L) has made a gas discovery in the North Damietta Offshore Concession in Egypt's East Nile Delta, its third in the block, it said on Sunday.

The Qattameya Shallow-1 exploration well was drilled to a total depth of 1,961 metres in water depth of around 108 metres, the company said.

"This latest discovery confirms our belief that the Nile Delta is a world-class basin," BP Chief Executive Bob Dudley said in a statement.

The well is 60 kilometres (37 miles) north of Damietta city in northern Egypt. BP has 100 percent equity in the discovery.

BP produces around 40 percent of Egypt's total gas.

British Petroleum (BP) had signed a number of deals with Egypt concerning the development of Atoll gas discovery in March in the North Damietta Offshore Concession in the East Nile Delta, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum announced Tuesday.

The investments of this phase are estimated at a $1 billion out of $3 billion allocated for that discovery, the ministry stated, adding that the agreements were signed between the group and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).

It is expected that this field has 1.5 trillion cubic meters of gas and 31 million barrels (mmbbl) of condensates. The production is expected to start in 2018, according to the BP Group official website.

The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and British company BP signed agreements to facilitate gas production from the Atoll field, Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, said, according to a press release received by Egypt Oil & Gas.

These agreements conclude the construction, transportation, and processing of gas produced from the well which belongs to the Pharaonic Petroleum Company.

El Molla also reviewed the development plan and the early production programs of the Atoll well in the North Damietta Offshore Concession in the East Nile Delta, which was discovered in March 2015 and is considered one of the important recent gas discoveries.

BP SIGNS DEAL WITH EGYPT TO ACCELERATE ATOLL GAS DISCOVERY DEVELOPMENT

BP announced on Thursday it has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla meant to accelerate the development of the Atoll gas discovery, in which the British company holds a 100% interest. 

“We are pleased to be making rapid progress towards the development of Atoll less than eight months after the announcement of its discovery. This is further demonstration of our continued confidence in Egypt – a key growth area for BP – and our commitment to continue to invest to unlock its energy potential” BP Group Chief Executive Bob Dudley commented in a note. 

The Atoll discovery in the North Damietta Offshore Concession in the East Nile Delta, offshore Egypt was announced in March 2015. Full field development of Atoll is expected to consist of two phases. According to BP, the first phase will consist of two development wells tied back to existing infrastructure, with production expected to start up in 2018. 

BP said that the decision, coupled with other initiatives, will help the country meet its energy needs. 

‘Development of Atoll will be executed and operated by Pharaonic Petroleum Co. (PhPC), BP’s joint venture with EGAS and Eni.’

The cooperation between Eni and BP should intensify over the next months.

‘BP … expects to continue to invest in its existing oil operations led by its joint venture Gulf of Suez Petroleum Co. (GUPCO) and gas operations led by the Pharaonic Petroleum Co. (PhPC) joint venture, as well as continuing to progress its exploration program in the Nile Delta.’ 

During a parliamentary hearing in Rome, Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi reported about his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Italian media, he said that the two discussed how “join forces and pull together these resources (in the Eastern Mediterranean), which are not only Egyptian, but also Israeli and Cypriot.”

Earlier this month, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi approved six new oil and gas exploration contracts in the Mediterranean, Nile Delta, Western Desert and the Gulf of Suez. The companies involved - BP, Edison, Eni, Total - are expected to invest at least $2.2bn.
