Egyptian Ethylene & Derivatives Co. (Ethydco) has selected a consortium of Saipem and Egypt-based Petrojet to build that country’s first polybutadiene plant, Saipem reported Friday.

San Donato Milanese (Milan), 21 August 2019 - Eni announces that the production from Zohr field has now reached more than 2.7 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd), about 5 months ahead of the Plan of Development (PoD).

This remarkable result has been achieved following the completion of all eight onshore treatment production units – the last one commissioned in April 2019 – and all Sulphur production units in August, the production start-up of two wells in the southern culmination of the field (in addition to the ten wells already drilled in the northern culmination) as well as the start-up on August 18th 2019 of the second 216 km long 30” pipeline connecting the offshore subsea production facilities to the onshore treatment plant.

The new pipeline, in conjunction with the completion and optimization of the plant treatment capacity, paves the way to increase, by the year end, the field potential production rate up to 3.2 bcfd against the POD’s plateau rate of 2.7 bcfd.

London — Italy's Eni has increased production at its supergiant Zohr field offshore Egypt to 2 Bcf/d (57 million cu m/d) following the startup of the project's fifth production unit.

Zohr started production in December 2017 -- just 28 months after its discovery -- and is on track to reach plateau production of 2.7 Bcf/d next year.

The production peak -- the equivalent of almost 29 Bcm/year -- would represent more than half of Egypt's current gas demand of around 52 Bcm.

Egypt -- which until recently was a fairly stable exporter of both LNG and pipeline gas -- began importing LNG in April 2015 to fill a growing supply-demand gap caused by a major slowdown in domestic gas development.

But with the startup of Zohr and other gas fields in Egypt, the country expects to halt LNG imports by the end of 2018 and become an exporter of gas again in 2019.

"Zohr [...] is playing a fundamental role in supporting Egypt's independence from LNG imports," Eni said.

Zohr is the largest deepwater gas field offshore Egypt, and the biggest discovered to date in the Mediterranean with an estimated 850 Bcm (30 Tcf) of reserves.

It is located within the offshore Shorouk block 190km north of Port Said.

Eni holds a 50% stake in the block together with Russia's Rosneft (30%), BP (10%) and the UAE's Mubadala Petroleum (10%).

Italian oil company Eni said on Friday that the production capacity of Egypt’s giant Mediterranean Zohr gas field stood at 1.6 billion cubic feet (bcfd) and would reach 2 billion bcfd by September.

Eni raised 50 million euros ($58 million) as an advance on future gas supplies to Egyptian state-owned partners to finance Zohr, the statement added.

Zohr, located in the offshore Shorouk block about 190 km north of Port Said, was discovered in 2015 and holds an estimated 30 trillion cubic feet of gas.
Production from the giant offhore Zohr field started in December 2017.

In April, Eni said Zohr had a reached capacity of 800 MMSCFD, or 150,000 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day.

The company said production increases are set to continue in order to reach 1.2 bcfd last May, 2 bcfd by end 2018, finally plateauing at 2.7 BCFD in 2019.

Egypt has been seeking to speed up production from recently discovered fields, with an eye to halting imports by 2019.

Italian co Eni is reportedly set to announce the Noor gas discovery, which will even dwarf the massive Zohr field.

Egyptian media reports that Italian energy company Eni is about to announce a massive offshore gas discovery in the coming few days have been enough to seen energy stocks on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) plunging. With an estimated 2,550 billion cubic meters (BCM) of gas, Noor would be three times larger than the Zohr gas field, over five times larger than Israel's Leviathan field and more than ten times the Tamar field.

At midday, Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) was down 3.42%, Delek Drilling LP (TASE: DEDR.L) was down 4.46%, Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) was down 3.63% and Ratio Oil Exploration (1992) LP (TASE:RATI.L) was down 4.70%.

Former Egyptian Petroleum Minister Osama Kamal said, “If you remember two months ago we said that more discoveries will follow in this area. Hopefully, this great news will be announced by the President and the minister of petroleum in a few days.”

Sources from the Ministry of Oil said on Saturday that the ministry has discussed new exploration plans for the Noor gas field in the Shorok concession area of the Mediterranean Sea with the Italian multinational company Eni which sees it ranked among the largest gas fields worldwide.

According to sources, the Noor field reserves are expected to reach over 90 trillion cubic feet, three times that of the Zohr Field reserves (TEKMOR Note: Not confirmed yet via a second source).

Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi held a meeting with Minister of Oil Tarek al-Mula on Saturday, and said that his company has allocated 70 percent of its global investments to Egypt.

Descalzi added Eni has injected $8.4 billion in the Nawras and Zohr gas fields in Egypt, and that Eni will inject a further $3 billion.

Oil expert Ahmed Abdel Halim told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the large amount of Eni’s investments going towards gas explorations in Egypt indicates the massive explorations carried out by the company.

INVESTMENT WATCH- Did Eni pledge USD 3 bn in investments in Egypt? Eni plans to allocate USD 3 bn in new investments in Egypt over “the coming period,” Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi said, according to a purported statement from the Oil Ministry floating around in the local press on Thursday. The company’s investments in the fields of Nooros and Zohr now stood at USD 8.4 bn, Descalzi reportedly said during a sit down with Oil Minister Tarek El Molla.

Eni is also keen on exploring possible projects in renewable energy, Descalzi said in a meeting with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, according to an Ittihadiya statement. While the statement gave no detail, it is likely that Descalzi is speaking of building a 50 MW solar power plant in the Red Sea’s Abu Redis to sell power directly to consumers under an independent power producer (IPP) framework. Eni was one of five companies that had submitted proposals back in April to build under the IPP framework.

Mubadala enters Egypt with Zohr acquisition: Descalzi’s statements come a day after Eni finalized a 10% stake sale in the Shorouk concession, which holds the Zohr gas field, to the UAE’s Mubadala Petroleum, according to a statement from the Oil Ministry. The USD 934 mn agreement, which was signed by Eni in March, now sees Eni’s share through its JV with the Oil Ministry IEOC fall to 50%, with Rosneft holding a 30% and BP taking 10% alongside Mubadala’s 10%. ENI finalized the sale of a 10% stake in its Shorouk concession to Mubadala Petroleum, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company. The Shorouk concession is located offshore Egypt, holding the massive Zohr gas field.

Following a record start-up less than two and a half years from discovery, the project is now in its ramp-up phase with the aim of reaching 2 Bcf/d of total installed treatment capacity by the end of the year, and a production plateau of 2.7 Bcf/d by the end of 2019.

Mubadala Petroleum completes acquisition from Italy's Eni of the interest in the Shorouk concession in Egypt, which contains the giant Zohr gas field

Mubadala Petroleum has announced that it has completed the acquisition from Italy’s Eni of a 10 percent interest in the offshore Shorouk concession in Egypt, which contains the giant Zohr gas field.

Following the completion, Eni, through its subsidiary IEOC, holds a 50 percent interest in the concession. The other partners in the concession are BP with 10 percent interest and Rosneft with 30 percent interest.

The Zohr field was discovered by Eni in August 2015 and is the largest natural gas field ever found in the Mediterranean, with a total potential of up to 30 trillion cubic feet of gas in place.

The field is currently producing over 1.1 billion cubic feet of gas per day (bcfd), equivalent to approximately 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Production is expected to increase to 2 bcfd by end 2018 and to reach a production plateau of 2.7 bcfd by end 2019.

CAIRO -- Egypt's Petroleum Minister Tarek al-Molla said on Thursday the production at the offshore Zohr Field will hit 1.75 billion cubic meters of gas daily by August.

In a press statement the minister added the production will be gradually increased further by the end of the year.

"The third unit of the gases treatment station in Zohr Field was operated ten days ahead of schedule," he added stressing the importance of overcoming any difficulties facing the implementation of the project.

On May 30, al-Molla said that the field is expected to produce 2 billion cubic feet of gas per day (bcf/d) by the end of 2018 which was the double of the previously expected production.

The Zohr Field, the largest natural gas discovery ever made in the Mediterranean, is located off Egypt's northern coast within the Shorouk block, some 190 km north of the Suez Canal city of Port Said.

Field production is expected to rise to 2.7 bcf/d by the end of 2019, transforming Egypt into a regional power hub.

Eni announces the start-up of third production unit at Zohr - WORLD OIL

MILAN -- Eni announces the start-up of the third production unit (T-2) of the Zohr project, increasing the installed capacity to 1.2 Bcfd. Zohr is now producing 1.1 Bcfd in ramp-up, equivalent to approximately 200,000 boed, of which 75,000 boed net to Eni at current working interest. This outstanding result has been achieved only a few months after the field’s start-up in December 2017.

The third unit, following just one week after the second unit’s successful power-up, confirms the programme pursued by Eni, its co-venturers and Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to pursue a production level of 2 Bcfd by end 2018, followed by a plateau of 2.7 Bcfd in 2019.

The latest achievement reinforces the exceptional development path of Zohr, one of Eni’s seven record-breaking projects, which is playing a fundamental role in supporting Egypt’s independence from LNG imports.

Eni announces the start-up of the second production unit (T-1) of the Zohr project, which will increase installed capacity by 400 MMScfd, just 4 months after the field’s start-up. Zohr now has a capacity of 800 MMscfd, equivalent to 150,000 boe per day (46,000 boed net to Eni).

The production ramp-up is planned to continue, with the same exceptional performance, in order to reach 1.2 bcfd in May 2018, 2 bcfd by end 2018 and the production plateau (2.7 bcfd) in 2019.

The United Kingdom is expected to receive a cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Shell-operated Idku liquefaction plant in Egypt, according to the port data.

The 161,870-cbm Maran Gas Apollonia, owned by Maran Nakilat and chartered by the Hague-based LNG giant Shell, is expected to dock at the Dragon LNG import facility in the Port of Milford Haven on March 8, the port’s shipping data showed on Monday.

The LNG tanker was on Monday located in the Mediterranean Sea, according to its AIS data.

Egypt, that has two LNG export plants, Idku and Damietta, has turned a net gas importer from an exporter over the course of 2016 due to falling domestic production.

However, the rising production at newly discovered gas fields has pushed the country towards halting LNG imports sooner than it was initially anticipated and boosted the prospects for Egypt to regain net LNG exporter status again.

One of the fields that recently started production is the giant Eni-operated Zohr gas field in the Shorouk Block, offshore Egypt approximately 190 km north of Port Said.

It is the largest gas discovery ever made in Egypt and in the Mediterranean Sea, and will be able to satisfy a part of Egypt’s natural gas demand for decades to come, according to Italian energy giant Eni.

CAIRO – 1 April 2018: Egypt plans to boost production from its giant offshore Zohr gas field to 700 million cubic feet a day (cfd) in May and to 1.8 billion cfd in September, an official source in the petroleum sector said Sunday.

He said that pre-operation tests have been initiated for the field’s first and second production lines and that mechanical and electrical installations for both lines are almost complete.

The second line will start operation in June, with a capacity of 350 million cfd, while the third and fourth lines will enter production in July and August respectively, bringing total production from the field to 1.4 billion cfd.

The signing ceremony was presided over by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Paolo Gentiloni, Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy. The stake in the offshore Shorouk Concession encompasses the giant Zohr gas field located in the Mediterranean Sea.

The agreement was signed by HE Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Group CEO and managing director of Mubadala Investment Company, on behalf of Mubadala Petroleum and Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni. The signing ceremony was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The signing ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Eni is operator with currently 60% interest and other partners in the concession are BP with 10% interest and Rosneft with 30% interest.

MILAN (Reuters) - Italian oil company Eni (ENI.MI) said on Sunday it would sell a 10 percent stake in the Shorouk concession in Egypt’s Zohr gas field to Mubadala Petroleum of the United Arab Emirates for $934 million.

Eni currently holds through its subsidiary IEOC a 60 percent stake in the block, the biggest ever gas discovery in the Mediterranean, with 400 million standard cubic feet per day.

Rosneft (ROSN.MM) holds a 30 percent share and BP (BP.L) 10 percent.

The deal fits with Eni’s so-called ‘dual exploration’ strategy, under which the state-controlled group aims to sell down stakes in fields it operates in order to raise cash to fund future development and support dividends.

“(The deal) represents a further signal about the strength and quality of this world-class asset,” said ENI Chief Executive Claudio Descalzi.

Egypt’s imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) declined dramatically in January as the country is gearing towards halting the imports due to increase in domestic gas production.

The country’s LNG imports in January dropped 66% year-on-year, pursuing the downward trend registered in the fourth quarter last year when they declined 40 percent as production from new fields ramp up, according to the France-based international association for gas, Cedigaz.

The Cedigaz infographic shows that only Qatar and Norway supplied LNG to Egypt in January.

Egypt that has turned a net importer over the course of 2016, due to falling production, has deployed two FSRUs in Ain Sokhna that serve as the country’s import terminals.

ATHENS (Reuters) - Italy’s Eni and France’s Total have discovered a promising natural gas field off Cyprus, Eni said on Thursday, saying the find looked geologically similar to the mammoth Zohr field off Egypt.

Further analysis was required to determine the range of gas volumes and define further exploration and appraisal operations, Eni said.

“Calypso 1 is a promising gas discovery and confirms the extension of the ‘Zohr like’ play in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ),” Eni said in a statement.

Eni is the operator of the offshore block with a 50 percent participation interest, while Total is a partner with the remaining 50 percent.

The Italian oil and gas group reported the Zohr discovery in 2015. Located in the Egyptian offshore Shorouk block about 190 km north of Port Said, Zohr holds an estimated 30 trillion cubic feet of gas, the largest ever discovered in the Mediterranean.

Calypso in Cyprus’s waters is an estimated 80 km away.

In Nicosia, Cypriot Energy Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis said an “extensive column” of clean natural gas was discovered.
