TEHRAN – Greece's Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs George Katrougalos (R) voiced his country’s interest in purchasing Iranian gas, Shana reported on Tuesday.

The Greek official made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs and Trading Amir-Hossein Zamaninia (L).

He called for expansion of energy ties between the two countries saying, “Greek companies are interested in Iran’s gas sector and refining industry and we are willing to purchase Iranian gas.”

DUBAI Feb 20 (Reuters) - Greece's biggest oil refiner, Hellenic Petroleum, will buy 60,000 barrels a day of crude oil from Iran which can increase to 150,000 bpd, Iran's deputy oil minister said on Saturday.

The deal was made during the recent visit of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to Tehran, Amir-Hossein Zamaninia was quoted as saying by oil ministry's news agency, Shana.

Hellenic Petroleum was a major buyer of Iranian crude, which accounted for about 20 percent of the southeast European country's annual crude oil imports, before sanctions were imposed on Tehran in 2011.

01.22.2016 - The agreement was announced after Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister Amir Hossein Zamaninia had discussed potential energy co-operation with Greek Energy Minister Panos Skourletis earlier on Friday.

Iran signed an agreement to supply crude oil with Greece-based refiner Hellenic Petroleum, reports said on Friday.

The deal would be Iran’s first such deal with a European company since the removal of international sanctions this month.

Deliveries will begin immediately, Hellenic Petroleum said in an e-mailed statement on Friday. The agreement also includes an adjustment for a financial backlog owed to Iran’s state oil company after sanctions imposed four years ago.
