Gazprom signs contract with Mytilineos to supply gas to Greece until 2030 - TASS

MOSCOW /TASS/ Gazprom Export, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, and Greece’s Mytilineos S.A. concluded a long-term contract for the supply of natural gas, the Russian company said. The contract provides for the delivery of gas to Greece from 2020 to 2030.

The document was signed by Vice Chair of the Gazprom Management Committee, Director General of Gazprom Export, Elena Burmistrova and Chairman of the Board, General Director of Mytilineos S.A., Evangelos Mytilineos.

"The cooperation between Gazprom Export and Mytilineos proves the demand for Russian gas on the Greek market and will further strengthen the interaction of our countries in the energy sector," Burmistrova said.

"This long-term contract will strengthen Mytilineos’s competitiveness in the region’s gas market and make a significant contribution to maximizing the efficiency of our assets in industry and the electric power industry," Mitilineos added.

Serbia ready to begin construction of its TurkStream section — Srbijagas - TASS

BELGRADE, February 8. /TASS/. The Serbian side is ready to begin the construction of its section of the TurkStream gas pipeine to run from the Bulgarian to the Hungarian border, national gas company Srbijagas has said.

"Serbia is ready for the construction of this project, the first 300 million euro have already been secured, the construction is to begin in late March or early April. The construction is to be completed by December 15," Srbijagas Director General Dusan Bajatovic said at a session of the parliamentary Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy on Thursday.

The official added that "there should be no obstacles" on behalf of the Energy Community, an international organization established between the European Union and a number of third countries to extend the EU internal energy market to Southeast Europe and beyond.

Earlier, the Energy Community’s secretariat has expressed its opinion on the project, which Serbia deemed favorable. This opinion should serve as a basis for a permission from Serbia’s energy authority. After that, the construction can begin.

Turkey starts building land part of Turkish Stream pipeline - TASS

Turkey is launching the construction of the onshore part of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline on the territory of the republic.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced this presenting the action plan for the second 100 days of the new cabinet after the country’s transition to the presidential form of government.

"We are launching the construction of the onshore part of the Turkish Stream on our territory," he said as quoted by the Anadolu news agency.

Erdogan also announced plans to complete the implementation of this project "by the end of 2019."

Gazprom’s exports to Turkey up by 18.8% in 2017 - TASS

MOSCOW, December 17. /TASS/. Russia’s gas giant Gazprom said on Sunday is had exported a record-breaking volume of gas to Turkey in a period from January 1 to December 15, 2017, having increased supplies by 18.8% on the same period last year, to 27.6 billion cubic meters.

"In the eleven and a half months of 2017, Gazprom exported 27.6 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey, its second largest foreign market. The 2014 gas exports record of 27.3 billion cubic meter has been broken," the company said in a press release.

Apart from that, gas exports to other countries that are to be covered by the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, which is now under construction, also increased, including by 10.1% to Greece, by 5.7% - to Bulgaria, by 22% - to Hungary, and by 23.5% - to Serbia.

Energy minister: Russia retains option of laying Turkish Stream through Greece - TASS

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. Russia maintains the option of laying the second branch of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline through Greece, Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak told Anadolu news agency.

"Gazprom has signed road maps with the relevant ministries of Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary on the development of national gas transmission systems in accordance with the applications of Gazprom Export. But there is also a supply option in the direction of Greece, and further through the planned pipeline Poseidon to the Italian market," the minister said.

According to Novak, to date, construction of 370 km of the pipeline is completed. In the near future, a protocol on commencement of construction of the onshore transit part of the gas pipeline should be signed. Construction work is planned to be completed by 2019.

MOSCOW, August 4. /TASS/. Rosneft delivered 129,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Egypt under the contract with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding (EGAS) in the first half of 2017, the company said.

IT was reported earlier that Rosneft would supply 10 consignments of liquefied natural gas to Egypt with a total volume of 600,000 tonnes; deliveries would be carried out from May to October 2017. In 2016, Rosneft Trading SA delivered three tankers to the processing facilities of EGAS.

Rosneft is buying a 30% stake in the project to develop the Shorouk block in Egypt’s offshore zone

SOCHI, June 23. /TASS/. Russian top oil producer Rosneft, which is buying a 30% stake in the project to develop the Shorouk block in Egypt’s offshore zone, where the Zohr gas field was discovered, will export gas from it to the countries of Europe and the Middle East, a source in the company told TASS.

"Igor Ivanovich (Sechin, head of Rosneft - TASS) spoke about joining the strategic project Zohr, we will certainly export gas from, in particular to the European market, and to the countries of the Middle East, depending on the economic attractiveness of export options," the source said.

According to the source, it concerns significant production volumes - "about 9 billion cubic meters of gas will be in possession of Rosneft, and this is the basic model of development, which excludes potential additional exploration."

The source said that the field has a serious potential in terms of additional exploration.

"We will sell gas from the Zohr project when economic conditions are best for it. In this case we will act as a gas exporter from one country to another," the source added.

Russian gas exports to Turkey up by 26% in January-April 2017 - TASS

ISTANBUL, May 21. /TASS/. Russian gas exports to Turkey grew by 26% in January-April 2017, to reach 10.5 billion cubic meters, according to documents prepared by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Turkey.

"In 2016, Russia’s natural gas exports to Turkey amounted to 24.7 billion cubic meters. In January-April 2017, gas exports grew by 26%, to reach 10.5 billion cubic meters," the document says.

Apart from that, basis has been laid for closer cooperation in the gas sector thanks to the implementation of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project with a capacity of 31.4 cubic meters.

MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Gazprom and Italy’s Eni signed a memorandum of understanding in Moscow, the Russian gas holding said on Tuesday.

"The paper reflects interest of the parties in analyzing prospects of cooperation in the sphere of developing the southern corridor of gas supplies from Russia to European nations, particularly to Italy, and upgrading contracts on Russian gas supply to the republic," Gazprom said.

"Upgrade of contracts will only pertain to a change in delivery destinations in context of the southern supply corridor," Gazprom’s international trading arm Gazprom Export said.

Egypt’s political thinker believes the country will face an energy catastrophe if the country abandons building the nuclear power plant

The project of nuclear power plant (NPP) construction with Russia’s participation is much more important for Egypt than return of Russian tourists, Egypt’s political thinker and international petroleum strategist Professor Tarek Heggy told TASS in an interview on Wednesday.

"The NPP construction project in El Dabaa near Alexandria is important in itself and it is a much more significant project in positive terms than return of Russian tourists to Egypt," the expert said.

"Egypt will face an energy catastrophe if the country abandons building the NPP," Heggy said. National authorities "overstate their reserves and sufficiency of such resources as oil and gas," he said. "Egypt is at a very low level in terms of oil reserves and at an average level in terms of gas reserves," the expert added.
