Upstream services company Halliburton said September 14 it was awarded a contract to drill as many as five wells off the coast of Israel.

Halliburton will conduct the work for Energean, a Mediterranean- and North Sea-focused explorer.

“Halliburton will collaborate with Energean to economically and safely deliver exploration, appraisal, and development wells offshore Israel,” the services company explained. “The contract is for three firm and two optional wells to deliver all services including project management, directional drilling, drill bits, drilling fluids, cementing, solids control, wireline, slickline, completions, production enhancement, and subsea services.”

London-listed Energean in June secured a drilling rig from Aberdeen-based Stena Drilling for a well campaign off Israel due to commence in early 2022.

That campaign included three firm wells and two optional ones, targeting 1bn barrels of oil equivalent in unrisked prospective recoverable resources, Energean said.

Halliburton offered few details other than to say the Energean award follows work the upstream company completed in the Karish and Karish North gas fields off Israel.
