Egyptian Prime Minister, Eng. Sherif Ismail, met with Andrew Brown, Upstream International Director at Shell in the presence of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, and Eng. Gasser Hanter, Country Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell Egypt, to discuss existing and potential opportunities in Egypt’s oil and gas exploration.
The meeting included a report about the company’s work in Egypt and the existing opportunities in gas exploration. Prime Minister confirmed that the Egyptian oil and gas sector is a promising industry with a great future. Additionally, the government is keen to increase the profit of natural minerals and to better manage these resources. The government is also promoting mineral developments to attract further investments.
Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources received Andrew Brown , Upstream International Director at Shell and Eng. Gasser Hanter Country Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell Egypt, in the presence of Eng. Mohamed Mounes, the Ministry’s First Undersecretary , Eng. Abd Ezz El Regal EGPC Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Ashraf Farg, Deputy Chief Executive at the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) for Agreements, where they discussed Shell’s work plan over the coming period.
They reviewed work programs in the Western Desert area in which 3 wells will be drilled, they also discussed speeding up development start up of the 8 wells – phase 9(B) at the Mediterranean in addition to 2 exploratory wells in light of Shell’s work plan to increase the company’s natural gas production rates over the coming years.
The meeting included discussion on the company’s plans for exploration, development, and drilling new wells in its fields in Egypt’s Western Desert and Mediterranean.
