Italian Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti will visit Cyprus on Monday where she will hold talks with her Cypriot counterpart Christoforos Fokaides.
During the meeting of the two ministers, they will sign an agreement on Exchange and Mutual Protection of Information. Pinotti will also meet with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades.
According to a press release by the PIO, Pinotti will be officially welcomed by Fokaides at the National Guard General Staff premises in Nicosia, where the meeting will take place.
Italian energy firm ENI and Total have secured joint drilling rights for Block 11 within Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) despite repeated threats by Turkey – who are disputing the maritime zoning areas by the Cypriot government.
Last week, French Minister for Armed Forces Florence Parly visited Cyprus in what she said was a visit connected to the French peace forces in Lebanon.
