Eni expanding portfolio of gas projects offshore Libya - OFFSHORE

TRIPOLI, Libya – Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi has held talks with Abdulhamid Dbeibah, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity of Libya, on future energy developments in the country.

Descalzi confirmed Eni’s commitment to its operational activities and projects in Libya, with a focus on natural gas to help meet the country’s growing energy needs.

New offshore development projects include Structures A&E, Bouri Gas Utilization, Sabratha Compression (at the offshore Bahr Essalam field), and Hamada.

The two officials also discussed projects in the renewable energy sector, including opportunities for CO2 emissions reductions.

Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the presidential council of the Libyan Government of National Accord, met in Tripoli with Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi to discuss the general situation of Libya, with a particular focus on the introduction of renewable energy in Libya and Eni's activities in the country

The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanalla.

Claudio Descalzi assured Sarraj the full commitment of the company to its operational activities and projects in the country and reiterated Eni’s commitment in the social area, particularly in reference to the initiatives undertaken in the power generation sector.

Following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last year with GECOL and NOC, Eni has contributed greatly for the improvement of the power sector, supplying much needed spare parts and technical assistance that allowed the recovery of 425MW of power output in the Tripoli area.

SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Mellitah Oil & Gas, the joint venture between Eni and Libya’s NOC, has started production from the first well of the Bahr Essalam Phase 2 project in the Mediterranean Sea offshore Libya.

Start-up was three years after the final investment decision. Two further wells are due to enter production during the next few days. With a further seven set to come onstream by October.

Phase 2 will complete development of the country’s largest producing gas field, Eni said, increasing its production potential by 400 MMcf/d.

By October, the field’s total output should reach 1.1 bcf/d.

Bahr Essalam, 120 km (75 mi) northwest of Tripoli, contains more than 260 bcm of gas. This is delivered through the Sabratha platform to the onshore Mellitah treatment plant, with most of the supplies directed to Libya’s national network.

TRIPOLI, Libya – Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi has held talks with two North African leaders concerning major ongoing offshore development projects.

In Tripoli, Descalzi met Fayez al-Sarraj, Head of the Presidential Council of the Libyan government of National Accord, and the president of the state oil company Mustafa Sanalla.

High on the agenda was the second phase of development of the Bahr Essalam field, one of Libya’s largest offshore reservoirs and a source of gas supply for the Greenstream trunkline in the Mediterranean Sea.

Nine of the 10 offshore wells have been drilled, and Eni anticipates first gas in 2018.

TUNIS (Reuters) -- Libya's oil production is running at above 800,000 bpd for the first time since 2014, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Wednesday, but a commercial dispute with German oil firm Wintershall has shut in a further 160,000 bpd.

Libya's output could reach between 1.1 MMbpd and 1.2 MMbpd if political obstacles were removed, the NOC said in a statement.

"We are able to produce an average of 1.1 MMbpd to 1.2 MMbpd over the rest of this year, but for this to happen our oil must flow freely. A national effort is required," NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanalla said.

Eni discovers gas, condensate offshore Libya - WORLD OIL

SAN DONATO MILANESE, Milan -- Eni has made a new discovery of gas and condensates offshore Libya in the ‘Gamma Prospect‘, in the Contract Area D, 140 km offshore from Tripoli, in Libya. The discovery, made through the well B1 16/3, is located 15 km south west of the Bouri field and 5 km north of the Bahr Essalam field. The drilling of the Gamma prospect is part of the “near-field” exploration strategy of Eni, targeting opportunities, that in case of success can exploit synergies with existing infrastructures reducing the time to market and providing additional gas to the local market and export.

The well, drilled in 150 m of water depth, reached a total depth of 2,981 m and encountered gas and condensates in the Metlaoui Group of Eocene age. The well has the capacity to deliver, in production configuration, in ecxess of 7,000 boepd and represents a further discovery made by Eni in Libyan offshore Area D, following the discoveries made in 2015.

Eni SPA is advancing exploration in the Mediterranean in the Contract Area D offshore Libya. The company spudded its B1-16/3 well on Jan. 4 in 518 ft of water about 140 km northwest of Tripoli and 5 km north of Bahr Essalam gas field. The 9,865-ft well’s primary objective is the Metlaoui group reservoir, the company said. Drilling is expected to take 64 days.

Eni was granted the license by Libya National Oil Corp. in June 2008.

Eni late last month signed concession agreements for the North El Hammad and North Ras El Esh exploration blocks in the Egyptian Mediterranean. Both shallow-water blocks were awarded in the 2015 Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co.’s (EGAS) international bid round (OGJ Online Oct. 12, 2015).

The two agreements follow the recently awarded blocks of Southwest Meleiha (in the Western Desert), Shorouk, Karawan, and North Leil (in the deep water of the Egyptian Mediterranean).

North El Hammad lies west of the Abu Madi West and Baltim-Baltim South development areas, where Eni recently made the Nooros discovery, which has been in production since August 2015 (OGJ Online, Sep. 12, 2016).

Eni is the operator of the North El Hammad block with an equity of 37.5% in participation with BP PLC, who has a 37.5% stake, and Total 25%. Eni holds 50% interest in North Ras El Esh block, which is operated by BP with 50%.

Spud of New Exploration Well – Offshore, Libya - NATIONAL OIL CORP. LIBYA

On the 4th of January 2017, Eni North Africa (Eni-NA) has spud its exploration well B1-16/3 in Contract Area “D” (NC41), offshore Libya. The Area was granted to Eni-NA under EPSA IV contract model signed between the company and Libya National Oil Corporation (NOC) in 12 of June 2008.

The Exploration well will be drilled in a water depth of 518 feet (156 meter) and it is located about 140 kilometer North - West of Tripoli and 5 Kilometer North of Bahr Essalam Gas Field. The estimated total depth of this well is ( 9865 feet). The main objective of this well is to test the Metlaoui group reservoir and the drilling is expected to be completed in 64 days from the spud date.
