Despite pollution fears, gas flow begins from behemoth Leviathan field - THE TIMES OF ISRAEL

The Environmental Protection Ministry said Monday that Noble Energy and its partners had met all the necessary conditions to begin pumping gas, paving the way for the rigs to begin extracting the estimated 22 trillion cubic feet of gas trapped underground.

Early Tuesday morning Noble began a gas rig test that is necessary ahead of starting operations, and later that morning the partners in Leviathan announced the start of natural gas production from the reservoir, the largest energy project in Israel’s history.

The first gas will reach Israel’s shores via the pipes within 24 to 48 hours from the start of production, the companies estimated.

Cracks appear in EastMed pipeline - CYPRUS MAIL

MARCH 8, 2019

CRACKS seem to be forming among the countries participating in the EastMed gas pipeline, raising questions over the project’s feasibility, if media reports are to be believed.

Earlier this week Italy’s La Stampa newspaper suggested Rome is having second thoughts over the proposed subsea pipeline, which has already received funding from the EU as a ‘Project of Common Interest’.

In December 2018, the four countries involved – Israel, Cyprus, Greece and Italy – signed a framework agreement to provide Europe with natural gas via the EastMed.

According to La Stampa, the definitive agreement was expected to be concluded by the end of March – but Italy now says it wants to put the brakes on the project.

Apparently under pressure from environmental activists, the Italian government has decided to order a new environmental impact assessment.

Minimum 3 years needed to bring Mediterranean gas to global markets - DAILY SABAH / ANADOLU AGENCY

30.11.2016, ANKARA

NOTE: Turkish state propaganda terminology against EU's Republic of Cyprus removed.

A minimum of three years is needed to be able to ship gas firstly to Turkey and further to the world market from the Aphrodite gas field in Cyprus and the Leviathan field in Israel, general manager of Turkish Zorlu Energy Natural Gas Group said Wednesday.

Zorlu Energy General Manager Fuat Celepci told Anadolu Agency that the private sector in Turkey expects progress in Mediterranean gas following the normalization process between Turkey and Israel in the region, but taking into account that Mediterranean gas also constitutes gas from the Aphrodite field in Cyprus.

"The expected steps were taken between Turkey and Israel in the context of normalization, but Mediterranean gas is not just Israeli gas. We need to take concrete steps and present it to world energy markets," Celepci said.

He explained that the route to be used for the transfer of Israeli gas would pass through the exclusive economic area of Cyprus.

‘Hafkada’ Approved – Exploratory Drilling Request Approval Granted | Zion Oil & Gas

Dallas, Texas and Caesarea, Israel – December 28, 2015 – Zion Oil & Gas, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZN) (“Zion”) today announced that on December 21st in the city of Nazareth, Israel’s Northern District Committee held a formal, non-public meeting during which committee members unanimously decided to grant Zion Oil & Gas approval of their exploratory Drilling Request (“Hafkada”), including the environmental impact assessment (“EIA”). This is a critically important step to drill a well under Israel’s complex, detailed, and extensive regulatory process. The Northern District Committee, representing the final word from the local, regional, and national governing authorities, was comprised of 17 members and the approval vote was unanimous.

The Drilling Request / “Hafkada” is a series of documents that comprise the plans for exploratory drilling for petroleum (oil & natural gas) and the required operations to perform the drilling operations, according to Israel’s Petroleum Law and Regulations. This is the culmination of many months and hundreds of man-hours of work by Zion’s dedicated team of professionals (including geologists, geophysicists, engineers, accountants, advisors, consultants, attorneys, etc.). This follows a two-month “public comment” period during which any member of the public could file a complaint against Zion’s plan to explore for oil and gas. Only one complaint was registered, which, after a minor revision by Zion, was removed.

The most recent prior oil and gas drilling proposal by another company was met by over 900 complaints which were then followed by court litigation.

The final step in the process is for Zion to submit this approved “Hafkada” along with our Application to Drill to Israel’s Energy Ministry for their final drilling program approval, which we anticipate in January 2016. Assuming there are no further regulatory or weather delays, we will begin drill site construction soon and it should take 30-45 days to complete. Zion still plans to commence drilling on the Megiddo-Jezreel #1 well to approximately 15,000 feet, in the first quarter of 2016.

Also this past week, Zion received its order for over 3900 meters (~465 tons!) of oil and gas casing for our well. This new casing is to be used along with our in-stock casing and tubing totaling another 9000 meters.

Zion is currently in a bond offering available only to its shareholders through January 15, 2016.
