Winners for Egyptian oil and gas exploration round announced - ZAWYA

Shell, ExxonMobil, BP, Petronas and IEOC among the firms to secure exploration rights in 12 concessions
The head of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation announced the winners of 12 new concessions at an event in Cairo on Tuesday, stating that $750 million to $800 million worth of investments would be made.

The General Petroleum Company (GPC) won a $5 million tender to explore in the West Amer sector, allowing it to drill 10 new wells, involving a total investment of $20 million.

Neptune Energy Egypt won an $11 million concession for the drilling of three wells and a financial commitment of $ 34.5 million. Merlon Petroleum won a $3.2 million tender to drill eight wells and an investment of $36 million.

Shell Egypt won three separate concessions. The first is a $27 million tender in the West Fayoum field, involving the drilling of six wells, the second is a $23 million tender to dig five wells south-east of Horus and the third is a $1 million tender to drill three wells in South Abu Sinan. Combined, the tenders involve a capital commitment to invest $57 million.

Egypt signs 2 new agreements for oil, gas exploration - EGYPT TODAY

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el-Molla signed two new agreements for the exploration of oil and natural gas in Sinai and the Suez Gulf with investments of $65 million.

The minister also signed grants of $3.5 million, an official statement revealed.

The first agreement is signed with General Petroleum Company (GPC) in Sinai to improve its production in the frame of the Ministry of Petroleum’s plans to increase production and support the national companies working in oil and exploration field.

The statement referred that the second agreement was signed with the Petroleum Corporation and Zaafarana Petroleum Company, Oceaneer Zaafarana, and Sahary for Oil and Gas in the Gulf of Suez.

Molla announced that the number of signed petroleum agreements reached 61 new agreements since 2017 with a minimum investment of $14 billion to explore oil and gas in Egypt’s Egypt's land and sea areas.

Kuwait Energy Announces Oil Discovery at Area A, Egypt - KUWAIT ENERGY



Kuwait City – 13 February 2018

Kuwait Energy is pleased to announce an oil discovery in the Area A concession situated in the Eastern Desert, Egypt.

The South Kheir-1X (SK-1X) well spud on 11 December 2017 and tested successfully on 28 January 2018 at an initial oil flow rate of 2,452 barrels of oil per day (bopd) from the Hamman Faraun MBR/Belayim formation at 128/64-inch choke size. On 6 February 2018 the well stabilized at an oil rate of 1,900 bopd on 64/64-inch choke size.

Abby Badwi, Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Energy, said:

“I am pleased to announce this oil discovery, which is a direct result of our technical team reprocessing old 2D/3D seismic and identifying drillable exploration opportunities. The Area A concession has been producing since the 1960s and this discovery demonstrates Kuwait Energy’s ability to continue to find hydrocarbons in mature fields. Kuwait Energy is proud of its track record of around 50% exploration success rate in Egypt. These achievements could not have been possible without the ongoing support of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, General Petroleum Company (GPC) and our non-operator partner Petrogas.”

Kuwait Energy holds a 70% revenue interest and is the operator of the Area A concession under a Service Agreement with GPC while Petrogas holds 30%.

SDX assessing commercial potential of Gulf of Suez permit - OFFSHORE MAGAZINE

LONDON – SDX Energy expects to soon conclude a commercial evaluation of the South Ramadan development concession in the Gulf of Suez offshore Egypt.

It follows approval this summer of an extension to the drilling commitment by the General Petroleum Co. until October 2018.

SDX has assessed the prospectivity of the area and completed development plans.

Once it has finished its commercial evaluation it expects to hold a meeting with the authority to discuss the way forward in the concession.

The 26.2-sq km (10.1-sq mi) South Ramadan concession, in 27 m (88.6 ft) of water, contains two proven productive horizons in the Eocene age Thebes and Senonian age Matulla carbonates.

Its location is between the 550-MMbbl Ramadan oil field 5 km (3 mi) to the northwest, and the 1.5-Bbbl Morgan field 6 km (4 mi) to the southeast, both of which produce light oil from Lower Cretaceous age Nubia sandstones.

ADES wins contract for ADMARINE III jackup with Egypt's GPC - WORLD OIL

LONDON -- ADES International Holding Ltd., the London-listed company providing offshore and onshore oil and gas drilling and production services in the Middle East and Africa through its subsidiaries, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a new contract for its ADMARINE III offshore jackup rig.

The contract was awarded by General Petroleum Company (GPC), the first national oil company in Egypt. The contract entails an initial two-year engagement of ADMARINE III with an option to extend for a further two-years. No significant additional capex is anticipated for the ongoing deployment of the rig.

Six lenders to secure EGP 2.3bn for GPC - AL MAL

Egypt’s General Petroleum Company (GPC) has signed a financing agreement with a banking alliance made up of 6 local lenders to obtain a loan of EGP 2.3bn to finance oil and gas exploration and drilling operations.

The vice chairman of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) Yehia Abul Fotooh said that the banking alliance arranging the deal includes NBE, Banque Misr, Arab African International Bank, Societe Arabe Internationale De Banque (SAIB), EG Bank and Union National Bank – Egypt.

Egypt’s General Petroleum production rates 'unprecedented': Ministry - AHRAM ONLINE

Egypt’s state-owned General Petroleum Company has reached unprecedented production rates of 57,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, the petroleum ministry said in a Friday statement.

The increased production rates follow the discoveries of two new fields, NES-5 and NES-7, the statement added.
