LONDON – Energean has conditionally agreed to acquire Edison Exploration & Production (Edison E&P) from Italy’s Edison for $750 million.

An additional $100 million could be payable following first gas from the Cassiopea gas development offshore Sicily, which is expected to come onstream in 2022. Eni discovered the field in 2008, reportedly in a water depth of 560 m (1,837 ft) and 22 km (13.7 mi) from the coast of Agrigentos.

Edison E&P has producing assets in Egypt, Italy, Algeria, the UK North Sea and Croatia; development assets in Egypt, Italy and Norway; and exploration opportunities across the portfolio.

The company has 2P reserves of 292 MMboe and 2018 net production of 69,000 boe/d.

Energean’s goal is to become the leading independent, gas-focused E&P company in the Mediterranean region, and the Edison portfolio should complement its own interests, the company said.

The enlarged group will have total 2P reserves of 639 MMboe and will be one of the largest independent E&P companies listed on the London and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchanges.

Eni signs concession agreement to begin exploration at offshore Noor gas field: Eni announced yesterday signing a new concession agreement with the Egyptian government to begin exploration activities at the offshore Noor gas field in the East Mediterranean, the company said in a statement (pdf). The USD 105 mn agreement will see Eni drill two exploratory wells in the 739 sqm field during 2H2018. Eni holds an 85% stake in the concession alongside Tharwa Petroleum Company, which holds 15%. Eni had denied last month that it made a massive gas discovery at the Noor gas field, after news reports suggested that Noor could contain around 90 tcf of gas reserves, or 3x as much gas as the supergiant Zohr field. Egyptian Oil Minister Tarek El Molla had also downplayed the reports at the time, saying that seismic studies were not yet complete.

Croatia's Crosco gets deal to drill 12 gas wells in Egypt, Iraq - SEE NEWS

Ukrainia's UkrGasVydobuvannya (UGV) has said it signed a 47 million euro ($55.6 million) contract with Croatia's Crosco for the drilling of 12 natural gas wells in Egypt and Iraq.

UGV has signed two contracts with Crosco, each for the drilling of six wells at EMSCO-605 land rig in Egypt and R-67 land rig in Iraq, the Ukrainian company said in a statement on Tuesday.

The start of drilling works is scheduled for the third quarter of 2017, with Crosco planning to drill four wells annually, UGV noted.

Zagreb-based Crosco is an integrated onshore and offshore drilling and well services contractor. It is part of Croatian oil and gas company INA.

Croatia opens first offshore licensing round | World Oil

ZAGREB, Croatia -- Croatia’s Minister of Economy, Ivan Vrdoljak, has officially opened the country’s first offshore licensing round. The licensing round was opened in Zagreb, Croatia, in the presence of representatives from over thirty international oil and gas companies and many oil industry experts and dignitaries.

Croatia’s first offshore licensing round comprises a total area of 36,823 sq km divided into 29 blocks. All 29 blocks are available in the round. The fiscal terms are based on a production sharing agreement model with a 5-year exploration phase and a 25-year production phase. Bids are due on November 3 at 14:00 hours CET.
