Greece is an oil producer, though its current production capacity is small. In late 2011 Greece re-launched gas and oil exploration and awarded oil exploration rights in three regions in W. Greece.
Following seismic surveys, tenders for 30 blocks are expected to be announced by Q4 2014. Another project worth highlighting is the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, a 500km long gas pipeline, budgeted at 1.5 billion euro which will provide Europe with gas from the Shah Deniz fields in the Caspian sea.
