PGS supporting gas exploration offshore Cyprus - OFFSHORE

OCT.20.2022

OSLO, Norway — PGS has unveiled its new Cyprus Vision offering, covering most discoveries and exploration wells to date offshore Cyprus.

The most recent Cronos-1 gas discovery well drilled by Eni and TotalEnergies in Block 6 confirms the prolific presalt Miocene-Cretaceous carbonate play in the area, the company said, following the earlier Calypso and Glaucus finds.

Cronos-1 well encountered various good-quality carbonate reservoir intervals with overall net gas pay of more than 260 m. Early estimates suggest about 2.5 Tcf in place, with significant upside. A further exploration well (Zeus-1) is drilling on the block.

According to PGS, Cyprus Vision benefits from 3D GeoStreamer broadband quality that should provide additional insights and allow analogs to be determined on other blocks in the area.
PGS says modern seismic data over about 20 000 sq km is a crucial tool for exploring offshore Cyprus.

The project consists of Phase 1 and Phase 2. Phase 1 is 14 750 sq km of modern PSDM reprocessed data. Phase 2 comprises 6 000 sq km of modern rejuvenated KPSDM data. The final reprocessed volume will be delivered on a common grid.

Multiple commercial gas discoveries have been made in the Eastern Mediterranean in recent years, most notably Zohr, Calypso and Glaucus. There is also the possibility of presalt Miocene sand-hosted reservoirs.

Final PSDM reprocessed deliverables for Phase 1 are available. The full reprocessed Cyprus Vision volume, delivered on a common grid, will be available in first-quarter 2023.
